What Can Cause A Differential To Fail?
Jim & Sons Transmission tells our customers in the Cuyahoga Falls ~ North Canton area that the differential in a vehicle is no different than any other component in that it is subject to wear and some vehicle's differentials fail before others. The leading cause of a differential failing is due to using the wrong lubricant type and specialty lubricants. Water can also be a culprit to a differential failing as it can enter through the vent or seals. This often happens when driving in high water. When water enters it will emulsify the differential lubricant and result in rusting on gear and bearing surfaces. Seized U-joints that result in vibration can cause differential failure as well.
I would recommend Jim & Sons to everyone.

"Thank you for the resurrection of my Honda CRV. The transmission went out on it and after getting an estimate from another garage I had it brought into Jim & Sons. They towed the car, diagnosed the problem, gave me an estimate and even had it towed back to my house. At first we were going to just sell it as the cost was hard to swallow for a 2001 with 175K miles BUT with their estimate was a comment that the rest of the car was in very good shape and would last as long as the transmission. After deciding on the fix they towed it back to the shop - FREE OF CHARGE - and advised me of the updated estimate after then got into it. The fixed it in record time and even fixed a couple of other issues for the cost of the parts only. The car runs and handles like new. THANKS GUYS for saving me another car payment and giving new life AND VALUE to my CRV!"

"We all dread having our transmission go on our vehicles, but if you have to have it repaired go to Jim & Sons Transmission Specialists. They are very informative, honest, and make the process as painless as possible. Everyone that worked there was very friendly."
I would recommend Jim & Sons to anyone, and I told my mechanic that he should feel confident doing the same.
Mark M. of Hudson Ohio
"The fact that Jim & Sons is a family business was clear throughout my experience: everyone was friendly, professional, straightforward, and willing to work with my schedule. My transmission was rebuilt within the estimated cost and time frame that were given after the assessment, and Max even went above and beyond by spending a significant part of a day fixing a problem with the car stereo code that was a flaw of the car, not the service. I would recommend Jim & Sons to anyone, and I told my mechanic that he should feel confident doing the same. "
Jim and Sons Transmission is a very honest and professional shop.
Ryan Meffley of Homerville Ohio
"Jim and Sons Transmission is a very honest and professional shop. My family has been satisfied customers of Jim & Sons since 1985. Jim has rebuilt and serviced transmissions in many vehicles over the years for my dad. I currently live an hour away, but still bring my vehicles to Jim for service. I even brought my vehicles to Jim for service when I lived in Cincinnati for 8 years. Jim has done all the transmission, transfer case, and differential services on my 2005 F150 with 173,000 miles on it. Jim's shop overhauled the rear differential in 2010 and most recently replaced the clutch pack assembly in my 2005 F150. I have been completely satisfied with all the work, and appreciate the honesty from all of Jim's employees. I highly recommend Jim & Sons in Cuyahoga Falls or Canton for any transmission or driveline repairs or service. You won't find a better shop."
I would also like to say thanks for telling me the charges for your work which were 100% less than I had anticipated.

I would also like to say thanks for telling me the charges for your work which were 100% less than I had anticipated. I'm wishing that you will continue to have the best of success in your business. "After diagnostics were done at my regular auto shop, I was told it was necessary for my Jeep to be serviced by a transmission shop. After calling me, they arranged everything. I was assured I would be pleased with Jim & Sons Transmission in North Canton. 'Wayne" called to explain there were several electronic issues in my transmission. Wayne called me 2 more times with updates and was very pleasant & knowledgeable. Repairs were made and my Jeep was ready to go the next day. Nobody likes to know their vehicle needs transmission work but this is definitely the place to go! Thank you Wayne & staff.e"
In the end I was provided a quality service for an affordable price I feel.
James Johnson of Kent Ohio
"I brought my car to Jim and Sons in Cuyahoga Falls on recommendation from John at Dennings Auto in Kent. I am good friends with him and trust his judgement since usually its me or him that does all the work on my vehicles. I initially was impressed with the facility, definitely a nice clean shop. My 2003 Buick Lesabre had the check engine light on and was throwing transmission codes. I got at least 4 calls in the 2 days the car was there, informing me of exactly what they were doing, and giving me firm estimates of what we're looking at in price. In the end the fix ended up being somewhat simple and cost efficient. They made sure to make me aware of what the cost of the fix was going to be and what my overall cost would be including the labor costs I had already been made aware of. When I got the car back I was definitely satisfied with the repairs. I took it to e-check and it passed with no problems. In the end I was provided a quality service for an affordable price I feel. The staff at this location were also very nice and accommodating, which is appreciated. I would definitely recommend your shop and I will be coming back if I have any transmission issues."
Though i didn't need any serious work, your honest estimate speaks volume about your company.

"Went to Jim and sons expecting a transmission rebuild in my F150. Turns out all I needed was a quart of transmission fluid! Though i didn't need any serious work, your honest estimate speaks volume about your company. Thanks"
