How Do Clutches Work?
Clutches in vehicles are used to engage the flywheel. When engaged, the flywheel enables the transmission to be shifted from one gear to another.
Though i didn't need any serious work, your honest estimate speaks volume about your company.
Anthony Lee of Akron Ohio
"Went to Jim and sons expecting a transmission rebuild in my F150. Turns out all I needed was a quart of transmission fluid! Though i didn't need any serious work, your honest estimate speaks volume about your company. Thanks"

Great service and people
Tim McMahon of Stow Ohio
"Great service and people. Max even cleared the snow and ice off my windows when I started my truck up to leave."
I highly recommend them and would NEVER take my car anywhere else!
Diane Wilson of Stow Ohio
"I can't thank you guys enough. I had taken my car to another very reputable transmission shop and was told I needed a new transmission that would cost me $4,500.00! I took it to Jim and Sons Transmission for another look (which they did for free. I had to pay 260.00 to the other place to check it out and flush out the fluid!) Max called and said not only did I not need a new transmission but that I could get it done for free! He knew of the problem and knew that there was an extended warranty put on it for that specific problem. He had all the paperwork ready for me to take the car to the dealer and it was repaired in an hour free of charge. They were so knowledgeable, friendly and honest. I highly recommend them and would NEVER take my car anywhere else!"
Without a doubt the most impressive experience I have had at an auto repair shop ever.
Mike Thompson of Akron Ohio
"I found Jim and Sons on the internet was very impressed with the reviews I read. I called every other shop imaginable and was not impressed by a single one. Called and talked to Max and came away very impressed. Scheduled the tranny service for my KIA. Had a load of questions and concerns and was not only assured it was the right thing to do, but I also came away with a vast amount of knowledge about these newer tranmissions and how they fuction and why they need regular serviceing. At a very reasonable price. I felt very comfortable there. I have read a lot on the correct procedure on how to service a tranny and i can tell you Jim and Sons does it the correct way. It was amazing to me how nasty the fuid coming out of a transmission with less than 50,000 miles was. The car shifts buttery smooth now; the difference is astonishing. Beverly is a real cool cat. Without a doubt the most impressive experience I have had at an auto repair shop ever."
Truly a repair shop that can be TRUSTED
Tom Adamson of Stow Ohio
"Truly a repair shop that can be TRUSTED....I took my mother's 2007 Mercury Mountaineer there after a local dealership quoted a $4,500 repair for the transmission, Jim and Sons completed the work for less than $2,300. I then decided to take my 2008 GMC 2500HD there after another dealership recommended a $2,000 repair for a re-manufactured transfer case, Max assured me he would check it out completely, after keeping me informed throughout the entire process he and his brother found some loose wire connections, fixed those and did a complete service on the transfer case ALL for less than $300.00. Truck drives fine again. They have definitely earned my trust from here on out. I cannot say enough for them and the other staff. Please don't hesitate to take your vehicle there. Thanks again,Tom Adamson"
Jim and Sons Transmission is a very honest and professional shop.
Ryan Meffley of Homerville Ohio
"Jim and Sons Transmission is a very honest and professional shop. My family has been satisfied customers of Jim & Sons since 1985. Jim has rebuilt and serviced transmissions in many vehicles over the years for my dad. I currently live an hour away, but still bring my vehicles to Jim for service. I even brought my vehicles to Jim for service when I lived in Cincinnati for 8 years. Jim has done all the transmission, transfer case, and differential services on my 2005 F150 with 173,000 miles on it. Jim's shop overhauled the rear differential in 2010 and most recently replaced the clutch pack assembly in my 2005 F150. I have been completely satisfied with all the work, and appreciate the honesty from all of Jim's employees. I highly recommend Jim & Sons in Cuyahoga Falls or Canton for any transmission or driveline repairs or service. You won't find a better shop."
His shop is incredibly clean and his staff is great. I can not say enough about Jim, except that I would like to steal him and have him here in D.C.
Washington District of Columbia
Mary Manzari of Washington District of Columbia
"Once again, Jim has come to my rescue. I live in Washington, D.C., and whenever I am in Akron I have Jim service the transmission on my 2004 Honda Odyssey (200,000 miles). Whenever I have an issue or question about my transmission, I call Jim. Actually, I call Jim whenever I have a question regarding my van. ... I call him from the Honda service dealer as well ... Even though I am in D.C. he is always there, professional and ALWAYS helps me. I really trust him. In 2003, Jim rebuilt the transmission on my 1998 Grand Voyager. His shop is incredibly clean and his staff is great. I can not say enough about Jim, except that I would like to steal him and have him here in D.C."
I would recommend Jim & Sons to anyone, and I told my mechanic that he should feel confident doing the same.
Mark M. of Hudson Ohio
"The fact that Jim & Sons is a family business was clear throughout my experience: everyone was friendly, professional, straightforward, and willing to work with my schedule. My transmission was rebuilt within the estimated cost and time frame that were given after the assessment, and Max even went above and beyond by spending a significant part of a day fixing a problem with the car stereo code that was a flaw of the car, not the service. I would recommend Jim & Sons to anyone, and I told my mechanic that he should feel confident doing the same. "
They are very informative, honest, and make the process as painless as possible.
Laure Gauntner of Ravenna Ohio
"We all dread having our transmission go on our vehicles, but if you have to have it repaired go to Jim & Sons Transmission Specialists. They are very informative, honest, and make the process as painless as possible. Everyone that worked there was very friendly."
