"Came in to Jim & Son's per referral to fix my broken manual transmission. I was aware that it would not be cheap to get it replaced so initially I asked for an estimate. Dan and Max accurately quoted the job and answered all the questions I had. I dropped of my car and was given a rental for for the week that they needed to complete the work. In the end Max was able to rebuild my transmission which saved me some money and I was given a good warranty with job. I came back once again to change transmission fluid, because it shifted a little unsmoothly in cold weather, which they gladly took care of. Over all I must say that I am very thankful for their service and their professionalism and I feel like they cherish their customers and are passionate about doing a good job. "My 4 wheel drive hasn't worked in about 3 years. Finally having put the funds together to even think about getting it looked at, I sought out a garage. The important aspect was getting a garage to diagnose the problem correctly, I didn't want someone just throwing parts at it, hoping to fix the problem. Another garage recommended Jim & Sons. Dan diagnosed 2 different problems, with a cost factor for each. I will say I am amazed at the accurate diagnostics along staying true to the estimates! To further better the experience at Jim & Sons, the problems were fixed 2 days prior than expected. Although I only got to try out the 4 wheel drive in the snow for the last big snow we had, I'm impressed. Jim & Sons doesn't only fix transmissions, but axles & computer related problems as well. Thank you Dan & Amanda for keeping me updated with the expected return of my vehicle depending on availability of the parts you had to order. I was surprised they had rental vehicles at a reasonable rate. They even offered a ride back home after I dropped off my vehicle! I highly recommend Jim & Sons. "

"If Jim & Sons were a religion, I would sign up. At 4:30 on the Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend my transmission failed while towing a camper. A local dealership recommended J&S's. Tiffany assured me they could handle the job but not until Tuesday following Memorial Day. She provided me a recommended tow service that was able to come get the vehicle (out-of-town) on Sunday. They called me on Tuesday and promised an estimate by Thursday. They called Wednesday with the estimate and promised I'd have the vehicle back on Monday or Tuesday the following week. I was elated when they called on Friday morning to tell me the vehicle was ready to pick up with no surprises about my bill. They worked out all the details with the warranty company so I didn't have to get involved at all. These folks know how to provide customer service! Very prompt and professional and a great warranty to boot! "

"Truly a repair shop that can be TRUSTED....I took my mother's 2007 Mercury Mountaineer there after a local dealership quoted a $4,500 repair for the transmission, Jim and Sons completed the work for less than $2,300. I then decided to take my 2008 GMC 2500HD there after another dealership recommended a $2,000 repair for a re-manufactured transfer case, Max assured me he would check it out completely, after keeping me informed throughout the entire process he and his brother found some loose wire connections, fixed those and did a complete service on the transfer case ALL for less than $300.00. Truck drives fine again. They have definitely earned my trust from here on out. I cannot say enough for them and the other staff. "I can't thank you guys enough. I had taken my car to another very reputable transmission shop and was told I needed a new transmission that would cost me $4,500.00! I took it to Jim and Sons Transmission for another look (which they did for free. I had to pay 260.00 to the other place to check it out and flush out the fluid!) Max called and said not only did I not need a new transmission but that I could get it done for free! He knew of the problem and knew that there was an extended warranty put on it for that specific problem. He had all the paperwork ready for me to take the car to the dealer and it was repaired in an hour free of charge. They were so knowledgeable, friendly and honest. I highly recommend them and would NEVER take my car anywhere else!"

"Thank you for the resurrection of my Honda CRV. The transmission went out on it and after getting an estimate from another garage I had it brought into Jim & Sons. They towed the car, diagnosed the problem, gave me an estimate and even had it towed back to my house. At first we were going to just sell it as the cost was hard to swallow for a 2001 with 175K miles BUT with their estimate was a comment that the rest of the car was in very good shape and would last as long as the transmission. After deciding on the fix they towed it back to the shop - FREE OF CHARGE - and advised me of the updated estimate after then got into it. The fixed it in record time and even fixed a couple of other issues for the cost of the parts only. The car runs and handles like new. THANKS GUYS for saving me another car payment and giving new life AND VALUE to my CRV!"

I took my 2000 Honda Accord to them nearly two years ago to rebuild the transmission, primarily because they provided the lowest estimate and because of the good reviews I saw. I was not disappointed. They fixed the transmission for the price stated and everyone on their staff was a pleasure to work with. They kept me informed of the progress and finished the work on time. They also back their work. Most recently I had a different, intermittent issue with the same car. Although I live more than 300 miles away, I took my car to them again. They worked with me to find a rental car while they troubleshot the issue. They showed their expertise in finding and fixing the problem and were extremely fair, even though the car was outside warranty. This impressive family run business seems to care about integrity first, over profit. I wish more businesses were run like Jim & Sons Transmission."

"I had a serious noise in the rear differential of my 2002 Blazer. With 205,000 miles on it, I was not surprised. These guys were great. Free diagnostics, and they gave me two options for the repairs. I chose and they fixed. The cost was much less than I expected. Now it is ready for another 100,000 miles. I was treated well, and I highly recommend this shop for any drivetrain repairs you need. "

"Once again, Jim has come to my rescue. I live in Washington, D.C., and whenever I am in Akron I have Jim service the transmission on my 2004 Honda Odyssey (200,000 miles). Whenever I have an issue or question about my transmission, I call Jim. Actually, I call Jim whenever I have a question regarding my van. ... I call him from the Honda service dealer as well ... Even though I am in D.C. he is always there, professional and ALWAYS helps me. I really trust him. In 2003, Jim rebuilt the transmission on my 1998 Grand Voyager. His shop is incredibly clean and his staff is great. I can not say enough about Jim, except that I would like to steal him and have him here in D.C."
